The Limes After-School Program was started by Ann Hopkins in 2003 to reach less-privileged children in the Limes area. Since then, the Significant Others Organization of St. George's University Medical School have fully taken over the Limes program and is coordinated by our Limes Coordinators.
The goal of the program is to help further the childrens’ education, build self-worth, and spread love. Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3pm – 5pm, SO Volunteers interact with kids to improve their reading, writing, and math skills, as well as focus on practical life skills, hygiene, and behavior. SO’s participate in arts and crafts, music, games, and other physical activities to encourage kids to play and have fun! Some of the activities in which SO’s are involved include reading circles, journal writing, math circles with flash cards, coloring and drawing, movie days, Dental Hygiene Day, relay races, nature walks, show-and-tell, collage projects, and much much more!
